About Senbridge
Senbridge was built from the start around the specialist workforce needs of statutory SEND services.
Built to create direct relationships between Local Authorities and the specialist SEND professionals statutory services depend on.
SEND Workforce
Supply struggles to keep pace with statutory demand.
Educational Psychology, EHCP casework, and SEND leadership all face sustained workforce pressure. Demand for statutory assessment, planning, and review continues regardless of vacancies, absence, or recruitment difficulty. Capacity problems can therefore compound quickly across a service, and a gap in one team soon reaches the next.
Statutory timescales remain fixed while services manage vacancies, backlogs, contested cases, and periods of organisational change. Pressure in one part of the system can quickly transfer elsewhere, increasing the importance of experienced professional capacity and stable service leadership.
These pressures are familiar across many SEND services. Workforce capacity is not peripheral to delivery. It affects how reliably services meet statutory duties, maintain continuity, and respond to children and families.
The Founding Argument
Why specialist focus matters in SEND work
Statutory SEND workforce needs are highly specific. Seniority, discipline, local service context, statutory experience, and availability all matter, and each service weighs them differently depending on its pressures and priorities. A search that begins only with a job title can miss the factors that determine whether an engagement will actually work, and whether it will hold over time. Senbridge was built to start with those factors, and to keep them at the centre of each search.
Experienced SEND professionals often have choices about the work they accept. Reaching the right person therefore depends on understanding the requirement properly, presenting it accurately, and building professional relationships over time. Access alone is not enough. Relevance and trust matter too.
Why the service context matters
Two roles with the same title can require very different experience. Service configuration, backlog profile, team stability, leadership expectations, and statutory pressure all shape what success looks like in practice, and they vary considerably from one authority to the next. Senbridge treats each of those factors as part of the requirement itself, not as background detail.
A poor match resolves nothing. It costs the service time, continuity, and confidence it can ill afford to lose. Good workforce decisions depend on matching the right skills and experience to the right context, not just on who is free to start.
Specialism was not an addition to the Senbridge model. It was the starting point.
A different kind of business
Senbridge was built around SEND specialism, direct professional relationships, and careful matching. In practice, that means understanding the service requirement properly, reaching professionals whose experience genuinely fits it, and working through whichever procurement route is appropriate to the authority and the engagement.
This is not a feature added later. It is the founding logic of the business.
How Senbridge Works
What specialist workforce support actually means in practice.
Senbridge works with Local Authorities through the procurement route appropriate to the requirement. The value we add comes from SEND specialism, professional relationships, market understanding, and careful matching.
Requirement first.
Every search starts with the service requirement: the statutory pressure, the work that must be delivered, the experience needed, and the context in which the professional will operate. That clarity allows Senbridge to focus the search on people whose background is genuinely relevant rather than simply broadly available. It also means the service and the professional begin with a shared understanding of what the engagement needs to achieve.
Market informed.
Rates and terms reflect the role, seniority, specialist experience, location, availability, and prevailing market conditions. Each engagement is considered individually, because no two statutory requirements carry quite the same demands or pressures. The terms agreed should be credible to the professional, proportionate for the Local Authority, and appropriate to the work being undertaken.
Built to last.
Senbridge measures success in the quality and durability of each engagement, and in whether the service is stronger for it. Context fit matters as much as capability, so professionals are selected for both. We remain interested in how the engagement works in practice once it starts, and in building relationships with services and professionals that last beyond any one requirement.
We provide clear information on each proposed engagement to support your own procurement review and governance.

Gareth Magrath
I built Senbridge because this sector deserved a different kind of business.
Watching the SEND workforce market closely, what stood out was how much specialist context matters in workforce decisions. The same job title can mean very different things from one service to the next. Seniority, statutory experience, local pressures, and professional fit all shape whether an engagement will succeed, for the service and for the professional.
I wanted to build something that started from different first principles. I wanted a business designed around what the sector actually needed: genuine SEND knowledge, strong professional relationships that take time to build, careful matching of people to services, and a model that put the quality of each engagement ahead of the number of transactions.
Senbridge is specialist by choice. The standard we work to is depth: understand the service properly, understand the professional properly, and bring the two together through an engagement that genuinely works for both of them and lasts.

Commitments
These principles shape how Senbridge approaches each professional relationship and workforce requirement.
Specialism only.
Senbridge works exclusively in SEND. Not mainstream education. Not broader health and social care. SEND. Every conversation with a practitioner or a commissioning lead begins from a shared understanding of the landscape: the roles, the statutory framework, the workforce dynamics, the pressures. We do not work in other areas because the model depends on the kind of depth that takes years to build and cannot be replicated at scale.
Selective representation.
We do not represent every practitioner who contacts us. We work with practitioners whose skills, experience, and professional conduct meet our standards, and whose expertise aligns with the requirements we are asked to support. This matters because it protects the quality of what we offer to commissioning services. It also matters to the practitioners themselves: representation by Senbridge carries a signal, and we intend to keep it.
Market-informed engagement.
Rates and terms should reflect the complexity of the requirement, the professional's experience, location, availability, and current market conditions. Experienced SEND professionals bring expertise that is in demand, and the terms of an engagement should recognise that. Senbridge approaches each engagement individually, so that the terms agreed are credible to the professional and proportionate for the Local Authority. Getting that balance right is a large part of what makes an engagement sustainable.
Investment in outcomes.
We measure success in engagement quality: whether the fit was right, whether the professional stayed, whether the service is in a better position because of the work. This means selecting professionals for context fit as well as capability fit, and protecting continuity wherever we can. It means remaining engaged after the professional starts. Our interest in an engagement does not end at the point of confirmation.
Procurement confidence.
Local Authorities need clear information about proposed engagements. Senbridge provides the relevant commercial and professional information so procurement and commissioning teams can review each proposal through their own governance, policies, and procurement route. The choice of route rests with the authority and will depend on the requirement. Our role is to make that review as straightforward as possible.
